What better way to show out summer than with an ice cream sundae party? Many thanks to our friends who made it out (especially those who drove from out of town!), we know the end of summer is crazy busy.
Our sundae bar included:
Vanilla & chocolate ice cream
Chocolate covered pretzels
Chocolate and honey bear cookies
3 kinds of sprinkles (my favourite!)
Strawberries and bananas
Gingerale and Coke for floats
When I was younger, a family friend took my brothers and I, along with her two kids, to Ontario Place and The Ex every summer. Adam thinks he has only been once, around the age of five.
Our evening started by being seriously soaked by a flash storm, so we took refuge in the food building, where Adam sampled one of the culinary monstrosities available.
After the rain passed, we went out and went on as many rides as we could before my fear of heights and my motion sickness brought that portion of the evening to an abrupt halt. I recovered enough to enjoy a giant ice cream on our way out.
Details: The Ex is open through to September 2. More information can be found here.
We went to the closing night of the Open Roof Festival last night. They are doing everything right; excellent food, good beer, opening the night with a great band and then ending the evening with a movie. The movie last night was Kings of Summer, which was the perfect end-of-summer-outdoor-movie. Thanks to our hot date Sara for coming along and to the ORF team for a great night! Looking forward to next season!
Details about the Open Roof Festival can be found here. The band was The Honeyrunners, their website can be found here. We enjoyed beer from Amsterdam Brewery; food from Fidel Gastro and Bricks & Mortar; and tasty donuts from Kaffeehaus Bakery.
This is what I’ve been looking forward to the most off our list. The Color Run (feels wrong without that “u” in there!) was on my Bucket List long before we had a 100 Things list.
So with three of our favourite people, we drove down to Buffalo for the weekend and along with 10,000 other people, ran what truly is the happiest 5K on the planet.
Details; The Color Run website can be found here; locations, race dates, photos and an online store. They have races all over the States and this year have added five Canadian locations (as well as locations across South America, Europe and South Africa). You can vote to add your city, so if you don’t see your hometown on there, get voting!
We were so impressed with the organization of the event, the volunteers and the overall experience, we’re considering adding it back on our list for next year!
