#98 – Go to Ireland

Six years ago, I backpacked around Ireland for 10 days with two girlfriends.  It was probably one of my favourite and most memorable trips, and Adam and I have always wanted to go back together, so on the list it went.

The bump definitely changed the shape of our trip (it’s not quite as fun watching your partner drink the beer as it is to participate), but it was an amazing trip.  It was especially great to just have time to be together for a whole week exploring a new place; our last time in a while we’ll be travelling just the two of us.

We started in Dublin, went to Galway, Killarney, the Dingle Peninsula, Blarney and back to Dublin; exploring little towns and landscapes in between.

Details: We booked a tour that included B&Bs and a car rental, but we picked our route, where to stay and how long.  A very big thank you to Monika at The Flight Centre Holt Renfrew for taking care of booking our flights, tour and extra hotels, we really appreciated not having to figure out all the details on this one!

Wonderful! I visited Ireland a month after 9/11 (when flights were crazy cheap) and loved every second. I can’t wait to take Ben back 🙂

    • It was so fun! Would you go with kids or adults only?

      • Becky says:

Whereas we are big on taking the kids locally for adventures and even so far as Hawaii, we’ve decided that it’s not worth it to take them out internationally until they are double digits and creating full-on lifetime memories. We ideally want them to be old enough and experienced enough with traveling to appreciate and enjoy how other countries/cultures are different from ours!
