Oops – we’ve been MIA

So turns out the whole two under two thing is no joke.  We haven’t abandoned our list, though have completely abandoned blogging for a few months (because, let’s be real, when I get 4 and a half minutes to myself, I’m lying on the couch, attempting to watch Netflix, catch up on news and stress eating chocolate).

I have a whole backlog of items to post and we’re hoping to get back on track soon!

Wishing everyone the best of the New Year!

Sam, Adam, Henry & Poppy

ch-ch-ch-changes

Well, we’ve been sitting on a big secret.  Not on purpose, but our blog has taken a backseat lately, so we just forgot to mention it.  Baby #2 is joining us in less than two months (!!), and recently we’ve had to reevaluate a lot of things.  We’ve decided we didn’t want to change our current list to make it more manageable/pregnancy & baby friendly BUT we have decided to spread our current 100 over 2016/2017 and then get back on the 100 per year train after that once the littles are easier to do things with.

As our pals at Band of Characters have reassured us in the past, it’s our blog, our rules, right?  (Also if you want to follow along with a family just rocking the 100 things challenge, check out their blog!)

Making a few more changes – the baby effect

We’re making a few more swaps on the list due to three baby related reasons; 1. Baby Henry was almost two entire weeks late which eliminated the window for a couple things.  2.  He arrived via emergency c-section, with an unexpected longer recovery time. And 3. I’m not sure I’ll be able to leave him for more than 5 minutes until he goes to school (even then, I’m sceptical), so we had to take off a couple things that weren’t baby friendly.

I am hoping these are all attainable, and that we get this list finished.  Everything that we are taking off are being added to our 2015 list, so we still will get them done eventually!

Moved to 2015;

#4. Go to a comedy show
#44. Hike the Beltline Trail
#69. Corn maze
#75. Royal Winter Fair
#88. Visit the Toronto Archives
#90. Ping pong date

Replaced with;

#4. Give back
#44. Take photos with Santa
#69. Install bird feeders on the balcony
#75. Vendor Queens Market at the Brickworks
#88.  Try butter coffee at Hula Girl
#90. Donut vending machine

Making some changes

Ok, folks, after some discussion, Adam and I are making a couple changes to the list, to accommodate our new reality (largely my increasingly limited physical abilities and managing our budget with all the new gear we need to get).

So, we are swapping out three items from our list for some alternates.  They will reappear again on future lists (we have a working document of ideas, so they’ll go back on there for now).

The three items coming off are;

#71 – Shakespeare in High Park
#73 – Take a tour of another city
#99 – Ride in a limo

#71 is off due to the fact I just can’t sit on the ground (or anywhere) comfortably for 2+ hours.  #73 is off, as we had planned on three vacations this year (Ireland, plus two others), but due to the wee one our plans changed a little (a lot) this year.  Finally, #99 is coming off just as it’s a larger ticket item, and we’re just about to get all the remaining baby gear, leaving our remaining “fun” budget in an alarming position.

So, below are the items that are coming in to fill the gaps;

#71 – Go to a lavender farm
#73 – Get some Toronto BBQ
#99 – Make fancy homemade popsicles

(Can you guess which one made the list due to cravings?)

Bonus Things

We are back from Africa, and I am working on getting together all our blog posts of the things we crossed off while we were away.  It was an amazing trip and I’m excited to share everything we experienced!

We also have a few Bonus Things to add to our list.  First, cage diving with Great White Sharks in Cape Town.  Second, our list item #33 is to Go to South Africa.  We also spent two nights and an amazing day in Zimbabwe, so we added that in. We spent a night in Livingston, Zambia, so while it feels a little like cheating, we’ve added it to the list.  Finally, we visited Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe side), and as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, it had to make the list.  All these and more will be posted later this week!
