#69 – Go canoeing

We rented a canoe for the last two days of our camping trip.  Henry seemed to really like the canoe/water, but really fought the life jacket, so we only went out once for a quick paddle.  We would have tried a few more small trips, except the canoe we rented was one of the heaviest monsters in existence, and the 10 minute hike to the water from our site made multiple treks unappealing.  But, still fun!

Details: We rented our canoe from the Killbear Mall General Store.

#76 – Canadian Canoe Museum

At the very top of our wish list is our own canoe.  Adam found and added this one to the list.  We weren’t sure what to expect, but it was super awesome, we loved it.  Really interesting museum, with lots of great exhibits.  My favourite was the entire exhibit dedicated to old school courting, romance and canoeing; so cute.  There were also lots of hands on areas, and activities for kids.  We got in some embarrassing parent practice in at the Canadian animal puppet show.

Details: The Canadian Canoe Museum is in Peterborough, about an hour and a half outside of Toronto.  Hours and location can be found here.  They also have a ton of workshops, tours and are free on Thursday nights.  We might be coming back in 2015 for a workshop, we were really impressed!

#83 – Watch a sunrise

Adam and I got up in the early pre-dawn hours this morning and canoed out to the middle of Pog Lake in Algonquin Park to watch the sunrise.

It was a peaceful and beautiful as you would expect.

#30 – Read while drifting in a canoe

We spent the weekend at Algonquin Provincial Park; the first time for both of us.  We completely lucked out on the weather (no rain until we drove out of the park on Sunday) and we knocked off a couple really fun list items.

We had rented a canoe for the weekend, so the first item to knock off was #30; read while drifting in a canoe.
