#8 – Go on a road trip with no destination

There isn’t much more I love than planning anything, really, so this one was a big challenge for me, much to Adam’s amusement.   So it wasn’t until Friday morning over breakfast that we decided we would aim for Kentucky and/or Tennessee.  We didn’t end up making it to Tennessee; on Friday we drove to Windsor and crossed into Michigan, and drove down through Ohio to Kentucky.   Once into Kentucky, we decided whether to spent Friday night in Louisville or Lexington by rock/paper/scissors; Louisville won.

On Saturday morning we went to the Louisville Slugger Museum; then spent the day driving through Kentucky.  We went on a tour of the Maker’s Mark distillery, stumbled upon small town street festivals, generally got lost in the best way, and then stopped in Lexington for dinner.  We would have stopped at the Keeneland Racetrack for the horse races, but a giant storm cloud we had been driving ahead of all day caught up with us.  After dinner we were back on the road and ended up in Charleston, West Virginia.

Sunday we got up early and spent the morning driving in and out of clouds as we drove through the West Virginia mountains, into Pennsylvania to New York and eventually home.

We absolutely loved Kentucky and are looking forward to going back when we have more time to explore even more.
