#63 – Colonel Sam Smith’s skating trail

The deep cold we’ve had this past week finally lifted to a balmy 0 degrees yesterday, so to celebrate we hit up the Colonel Sam Smith skating trail.  Really nice ice, and the figure eight shaped trail is large enough to keep it interesting for a while.  Thumbs up from us!

Details: The Sam Smith skating trail is at 3145 Lake Shore Blvd (near Kipling).  There is plenty of parking, and a nice heated change space to put on your skates.  More information can be found here.

#64 – ice skate at the Brickworks

We only discovered The Brickworks this past year, and seriously love it.  We haven’t gone skating at the rink yet, so it made the list.

The rink isn’t huge, and is largely used by families with very tiny children who are learning to skate, which makes for a great vibe (and lots of adorable wipe outs).  Combined with the eclectic soundtrack of ’90s boy bands, Disney songs, Florence and the Machine and The Lumineers and a John Deere zamboni, it’s a really good time.

Details: The rink is open Saturday & Sundays from mid December to end of February, 11AM-4PM (weather dependant).  More info regarding the rink and The Brickworks can be found here.

#89 – Go skating at the Natrel Rink during a DJ Skate Night

Three years ago, almost to the day, Adam and I skated at the Natrel Rink on our first date.  We’ve always meant to go back and check out the Saturday night DJ Skate Nights, and three years later we finally made it happen.

Details: Habourfront’s Natrel Rink (Queen’s Quay at Lower Simcoe Street) is open everyday.  Find their hours here.  DJ Skate Nights are every Saturday until February 23.  Find the list of DJs here.
